As a leader:
I want members to feel welcome and believe we can bring everyone's voice to the table. With active listening, I learn and then lead. Peers often state that I have a calm demeanor, that pulls a project back on track restoring working order and moving forward.
By optimizing individual and team performance NAHU will deliver on the strategy. When I make commitments that align with and reflect my personal values, I am dedicated and focused on doing the right things and doing things right.
The various roles that I have held, have allowed me the ability to work with many organizations undergoing rapid growth, going through transition and those preparing for acquisition.
I find joy helping organizations develop strategies to solve complex problems while establishing short and long-term goals that align with their mission & vision.
These disruptive times call for higher levels of empathy, compassion and understanding. I do my best to meet my colleagues, friends and family where they are with humility and authenticity.
Relevancy through reading
Personal growth for me includes a lot of reading:
Helping others
During COVID, several friends have lost their jobs or been furloughed. We have started a new tradition of delivering food, including weekly bread delivery to those who are near. We take our love for cooking and share it with others.
In normal times, our family volunteers at a variety of non-profits. One of our favorites is Damar Services. Damar is one of America’s leading providers of services to people with developmental, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities. From chaperoning their prom, to attending their annual gala and most significant - shopping for and wrapping gifts to make the holiday season special for the children of Damar. In the current moment since we cannot offer our time, we substitute that with money - We give what we can, when we can.
